The 8th Ward is proud to endorse Judge George Twardy for Municipal Court.

Rated “Recommended” by the Philadelphia Bar, Judge Twardy was appointed by Governor Wolf to the Court of Common Pleas and is running for a seat on Municipal Court, for which we have endorsed him. With over 30 years of experience, Judge Twardy is a seasoned lawyer and counselor.  He started his career in 1988, when he secured the rare opportunity to serve as a law clerk to a United States District Judge.  After gaining experience in a civil defense litigation firm, he formed his own firm in 1992, where he built a practice in areas of personal injury, workmen’s compensation, criminal and administrative law.  He served Philadelphia as a Hearing Officer in the Family Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas, from 2016 to 2020, where he presided over truancy and custody matters.  Judge Twardy has also served as a Hearing Committee Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, deciding matters of attorney ethics and responsibility to protect the public. He has been described by peers as possessing core qualities needed for an independent judiciary:  intelligence, integrity, character, and fairness, and we agree.
