The 8th Ward is proud to endorse Nick Kamau for Court of Common Pleas.

Rated “Highly Recommended” by the Philadelphia Bar, Kamau brings well-rounded, 360-degree talent to this race, through his diverse legal experiences representing people, organizations, and the public in private practice, government service, and legal aid, in Philadelphia and beyond.  Nick first served as a public defender and then as a prosecutor where he prosecuted violent gangs and organized criminal enterprises. He has worked as civil plaintiff’s personal injury attorney, civil rights attorney, and as a civil defense attorney. An alum of both the Philadelphia Defenders Association and the Philadelphia City Solicitor’s Office, Kamau’s diverse perspectives are also informed by experiences outside of Philadelphia.  In Washington DC, where he earned his JD from Howard University, Kamau later served as Democratic Counsel for the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee representing the Obama Administration in the defense of Obamacare, Clean and Renewable Energy Programs and Voting Rights. Kamau also has deep experience in criminal justice, both in Philadelphia and beyond, having served in Oakland California and our neighboring state of New Jersey.  In May 2016 he returned permanently to Philadelphia, where he is currently a partner at Legis Group LLC, advocating for clients in business disputes.  Respected by his peers, Kamau was elected by his peers to serve on the Philadelphia Bar Association, Board of Governors and in 2020, he served as the Board Chair We are proud to endorse Nicholas Kamau for Court of Common Pleas.
