Philadelphia Dems Endorsed – Cortez PATTON

JUDGE of the MUNICIPAL COURT

Cortez PATTON

**Recommended by the 8th Ward

The 8th Ward urges you to vote for Cortez Patton for Municipal Court. A South Philadelphia native, Cortez has spent his entire adult life working to protect the rights of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable citizens. A graduate of Temple University and Drexel Law, Cortez embraces equity and access as the foundation for sustainable communities.

Cortez started his legal career with MFI Law Group, where he primarily focused on family law, and represented clients in child custody, protection from abuse, and divorce matters.  After about a year in private practice, Cortez answered the call for government service, and joined the office of State Senator Anthony Williams in 2015. Since 2015, Cortez centered his legal work on drafting legislation and advising the Senator and other Caucus members on legislative issues, including criminal record elimination, probation, and other systemic reforms; youth literacy, and professional licensure reform.  Patton also worked with experts on statewide task forces charged with recommending improvements to the delivery of juvenile and criminal legal services.

Raised in a disadvantaged neighborhood, surrounded by people in desperate situations, Cortez is committed to providing every resource available to help stabilize or change the trajectory of people’s lives if he is elected. Cortez has the roots, relationships, and knowledge needed to be an effective, compassionate Judge on the Municipal Court.
